Michelle Cole, Counselor
Michelle is excited to join the Options Program as a school counselor. Michelle has been in education since 1998, began in Options in 2017, with a brief 3 year break before returning for the 2025/2026 school year. The relationships she builds with students and families is the best part of being a counselor. Over the years, Michelle has gained specialized training in neurodiversity, trauma informed care, learning challenges, behavior support, and post graduate planning.
When she isn’t working with students, Michelle spends time with her husband, three teenage children, and two dogs. Most weekends are spent supporting her children’s activities in the mountains, hiking, or reading a good book.
I am former homeschooler and an avid book lover! I homeschooled my son until high school and know the struggles that homeschooling can present. I helped out in the bookroom for five years and took the helm as Bookroom Coordinator in May 2022. We have many great resources for families in the bookroom. Come by on a fair day (Spring and Summer) or during the year to see what we haveto offer. Also check the bookroom website at https://optionsbookroom.aurorak12.org/.
I am passionate about books and helping homeschoolers! If you ever have book questions about the bookroom, please email me at apsoptionsbooks@aurorak12.org
Jessica Diaz has worked at Denver Options since 2021 when she was hired as the kindergarten teacher. She is very excited to step into her new role as Coordinator for the 25-26 school year. Jessica grew up in Colorado and received her Masters in Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education from CU Denver. She taught for Aurora Public Schools before staying home to homeschool her own sons, who now attend Denver Options as well. When she is not at work, Jessica loves being in nature with her family, reading and working on stained glass.
Leda started volunteering with Options when her twins began attending 1st grade in 2017. This quickly turned into an assistant position that allowed her to experience the opportunities that the program offers to students, families and employees. In 2023 she became the coordinator for our Iliff/New Life sites in Aurora and is looking forward to using her experience as a business owner and nurse to continue developing the program and encouraging homeschooling families for many years to come! When not at Options, Leda can be found supporting her children with their activities or tending to the animals on her farm.
